A new 3D stub inspection system has been installed by Impec at Alcoa Fjardal smelter with 360° reading. System reads all vital information on anode-hanger assembly such as stub diameter (thimble remains & washout), stub length (elongation or missing stub), toe-in (cowboy effect), yoke dimensions, stem perpendicularity to yoke and bi-metallic clad crack inspection. System transfers information to customer Scada system for further processing. System is the first of its kind installed worldwide and was handed over in Q3-2016.
